The Great Pick Up

My Co-pilot to Albuquerque...

along the longest road ever made by man.

We finally make it to our destination, Sheraton Hotel 6 long, bored, hot hours later. Lambeau took his first elevator ride...and was scared. Lambeau patiently looks out the window, watching and waiting to see his "girl". Then he decided it best to take a nap until she arrived. Nathan came along for the ride and it was great to see him. We ate dinner together and the kids went for a quick swim. Nate and I were able to spend some Mom and Son time together as we stayed up late watching movies and laughing. We miss him bunches out here in W. Texas. Morning came too soon and all our goodbyes were said. I tried to convince Nate to come back with us but he stands firm on his answer, "no thank you Mom".

Me and Morgan head out for the long journey back home to the Lone Star State.

We made a few stops along the way...like Santa Rosa NM.
Home of the "blue hole". People were scuba diving in it. It is said to be greater than 80 feet deep.

Then we drove through town and found this beautiful Catholic Church with Mother Mary hanging out front.

On our way out of town we stumbled upon this old cemetery.

Next stop is Fort Sumner, NM. Home of the "Real" gravesite of Billy the Kid. He and his buddies are buried in an old graveyard. Morgan took pictures of headstones from the late 1800's.

And how did we know we crossed State lines into Texas?

Yep, John Deere....

 And Longhorns.....

And Buffalo?
Weird! Well welcome home Morgan! Glad to have ya back :)

An Uneventful July

No fireworks for the great people of West Texas this year :( No rain and a lot of fires lately equals a ban on the fireworks for 2011. Figures the first year I reside in a State where fireworks are legal to shoot off in the backyard we can't due to Mother Nature. Morgan is still in Arizona and it is been creepy quiet around the house...and clean!  Eric and I are enjoying a bit of serenity and working. Looking forward to August when Morgan comes home again.

The Trip Home

The big day finally arrived. We packed our bags and headed to Arizona. Morgan intended to stay the entire Summer but Eric, Rheanna (his youngest daughter) and myself would have to return to Texas after a few short days. I worked Saturday night and Eric prefers driving at night so we headed out late Sunday evening. Plus we figured the kiddos would sleep and the adults could get some peace for the 750 miles we would travel. We arrived safe and sound, thanks to our champanion driver, Eric. Mom was there with open arms and food :) The kids were rested and went off to explore while the adults went to take a nap. We had a busy week trying to fit everything in. We could have done so much more if only we had more time. Next trip for sure! We celebrated Nathan's 16th birthday! I cannot believe how fast they grow up. WOW! Here are some of our adventures together.

Back side of Thumb Butte on Thumb Butte look out! It was a beautiful day. Peaceful and serene :)

Yes, that is me in a tree! Yes, I did climb it all by myself!

Nathan's 16th Birthday. I can hardly believe that my baby boy is sixteen, ugghhh! How time flies. He is at least a foot taller than me. How does that happen?

Grand Canyon...first time for everyone except me. For me it brought back many wonderful memories of the wonderful time spent and the amazing hikes I did with Mom and Dad as a kid.

The Meteor Crater, Winslow Arizona. Our last stop on our way back home to Texas.

Our trip was a success and it was sad to leave. While at the Meteor Crater. Dave called and informed me that Morgan had broken her wrist while riding her bike. Go figure. Poor girl.

So back to Texas for us. Goodbye Arizona, hello Texas!
